I LOVE knowing about practical ways that I can help a family in need, especially if I can enjoy some ribs while doing so.  Here is one such opportunity.

The pictures above were taken the day Georgia found out she’d been promoted to the next level in ballet, just one month before being diagnosed with cancer.

A sweet little 12 year old in our community has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer.  Her name is Georgia Byrd.  Georgia and her family have been in and out of hospitals for the past seven months.  This means seven months of trips back and forth to UAB in Birmingham, seven months of living in hospitals for days on end, seven months of an emotional roller coaster for this precious family.

Insurance simply doesn’t cover all of the costs of cancer treatments, nor travel expenses, nor ALL the expenses while away from home.   Let’s help this family out!

A wonderful organization called  Fired Up, Inc. is holding a fund raiser for Georgia.  Fired Up, Inc. is a local organization that donate their barbeque grills and their time to those in need.  So they are ‘Grilling for Georgia’, Saturday, March 12th.  Deadline for orders is Wednesday, March 2nd.  One rack of ribs is $30.00.  There are also case sponsorships which help offset the cost of the event.

Their goal is 250, as of today they are at 205.  Let’s push them toward their goal!
